A historic landmark in Dunedin, Larnach Castle is a highly recommended activity for tourists and locals. I love the history, the gardens, the grandness of the building - this place is simply awesome.

If you want to feel like you've taken a step back in time there's no cooler place to visit during a trip to Dunedin that the iconic attraction that is Larnach Castle. This is bricks and mortar steeped in history and took me back to feeling like an excitable little girl as I roamed the great halls and bedrooms of the stately manor. The gardens are absolutely fabulous too and don't miss the view spot to the side of the park - it boasts one of the best views in Dunedin.

If you’re on a budget in Dunedin you can still see the sights of Larnach Castle and for only $12.50. The “peasant’s price” allows you access into the café, gardens and historic outbuildings and stables. A great outing without the price tag!

Larnach Castle isn’t just famous for its impressive castle, but did you know that they have an amazing garden too? Creatved almost 40 years ago by local gardener Margaret Barker, the garden is of national significance and is widely cherised, particularly by yours truly!

The historical Larnach Castle is one of the best attractions in Dunedin. This spectacular castle was built in 1871 and hasn’t lost any of its original charm. Go for lunch or a little stroll around the "garden of international significance". You won’t be disappointed!
