This is one of the few places in Taranaki where I can come and get real Chinese that hasn’t been sugarcoated to suit kiwi tastes, it’s authentic as hell! I’m trying myself out on tofu and this was a great place to develop the taste of it as they make it so appealing! They also have seasonal vegetables in a garlic sauce, that to me is one of my favourite things ever; give me a plate of garlic covered vegetables anyway and I’ll keep eating until I feel sick!

Laughing Budha executes shared dining of traditional Chinese meals that is great if you want an ethnic escape with some friends without leaving the country. Gongbao Chicken is a traditional dish that is a crowd favourite, so is Peking Roast Duck, which is tender, juicy and is served with pancakes!

The laughing Buddha claim to be the most authentic Chinese restaurant in New Plymouth, and I love how you eat upstairs so you can overlook the streets below. They allow you to bring wine from home for a cheap corkage fee of under $15, and provide so many different dishes to choose from such as the lemon chicken!
