Tirau is the tiniest little town with some really authentic restaurants. The Loose Goose Cafe & Restaurant is an absolute gem over winter serving up some delish soups, toasted sammies and great hot cuppas of coffee and tea. I love their chicken soup - full of flavour, full of veges and chicken and a great winter lunch meal.
