Macpac still do sell great gear and its designed well. It is still a shame that its all made in China now...I know they insist it doesn't make any difference but it really has. Still have backpack from 12 years ago now...bought a new one that only lasted 4 once they switched to China. This store is great with good staff that actually have knowledge (not like Kathmandu), and they are actually cheaper than a lot of other outdoor places that sell the same stuff.. e.g. their books are cheaper.
Macpac used to have great gear; NZ made, sturdy and something that would last a lifetime (literally!). I understand they need to be commercial but this store proves that the brand has taken a hit. Poor displays, stuff everywhere and they NEVER have my size in stock. They also hang old stuff next to the new designs - so confusing! I’ll keep going back because I like some of the stuff and they have good sales. But it’s not what it used to be.

Sorry to hear that. I haven't been here for ages but it used to be primarily an outlet store - hence lots of old stuff in odd sizes and just a little bit of new seasons's gear. I think the quality of the products is still good though?

Definitely agree about the quality. Not exactly the standard of the NZ made days - but still hardy and made well. Like I say, I'll still shop there, just left feeling a bit disappointed.

I miss the days of when it was all made in NZ. The china produced stuff just isn't as good.
