Partially filling a void left in Wellingtons live music scene since the closure of Mighty Mighty, Meow has taken up hosting more shows, providing a space for new and old bands to play, with some heavy investment into the sound equipment to go alongside it. With live music or activities on most nights, a great beer list of New Zealand craft brews, a spot that’s just as good for an after work drink as it is a late night boogie. Well worth a visit!!

Last #shoutme before it hits 9am!! ;) Meow is great - I love that they showcase such talented Wellington musicians with their late night gigs.

Lots of yummy plates of organic, vegan and vegetarian food. Order a big selection to share with your mates. They’ve got a pretty cool selection of beers too.

Great spot hidden away in Edwards Street. Awesome atmosphere. If you come for lunch, you can't miss with the pork sandwich. Sublime.

Meow cafe is home to a startling array of comedy and spoken word events throughout the year so its likely that there’ll be something to whet the cultural appetite any week of the year. If writing is more your thing than being read to or spoken at, you could hang around most lunch times and insinuate yourself into one of the several writing groups that meet there at least once a week.

Tucked away in a back alley, this unassuming cafe is a favourite spot to camp out on a rainy day and drink a pot of tea and read the paper. It dark and warm and the atmosphere always has a little buzz which makes it easier to concentrate on what you’re doing. Come a sunny day it’s good to pop outside too and enjoy the sun.

This quirky central cafe, hidden away on Edward Street, is an ideal spot for meeting a friend, or a group. There’s always something new (and usually interesting) on tap, with a range of beers, wines, ciders and liquor. It’s also an excellent spot for sitting and sipping in the sun in summertime.

On a Friday evening after work there are few places better to head to than Meow. Happy Hour from 4.30 til 6.30 is some of the best value in town and afterwards there’s almost always a sweet gig on to keep you entertained. Probably the only bar I would describe as having a vibe that is both fun and cosy

A really great chilled out place to get food, a coffee and see a band or two. The decor is of a really retro vibe, with 70's style furnishings  Came here for a bite to eat on a Saturday afternoon. The food was great and so was the coffee. They usually have indie bands playing here. A great venue to chill out in.
