For the best vegetable soup in Auckland, I head over the Bridge to Takapuna to visit the amazing, organic awesomeness that is Mimosa. With a vege chef on the tools, you know that what's going to come out of this kitchen is superb and their homemade vege soup - the ingredients of which change with the seasons is an absolute winner. Oh and it's best finished off with a piece of their vegan banana bread. Goodness personified!
The interior of this quirky little organic café is so gorgeous and unique. With wood paneled walls, proper wooden tables and random little wood/steel chairs as a canvas, Mimosa has been peppered with unusual little trinkets all over the place. A woolen knitted owl, a little mannequin of a nurse, ornate wire lampshades, a little truck holding a flower pot, old National Geographics and a little vase (none of which match of course) of fresh flowers on each table. They make coffee to perfection and have a great range of tasty organic dishes. Lots of vegetarian options, as well as a selection of cakes and muffins. Yum!
I’ve only been once so far but loved it. Got the great package of a coffee (Mocchachino) and a muffin for only $6.50. The banana chocolate muffin was just perfect, very flavoursome and not too sweet. Also the organic coffee was super yummy. The staff was very friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. I’d highly recommend it! The only constructive feedback would be for the opening hours. I know it’s not just me who sometimes also likes to go to a cafe after 4pm.
