I have wanted to try out Miss Clawdy since I discovered they make southern fried jerk chicken. So it was fortuitous that we were spending the day in Wynyard Quater (along with everyone else in Auckland that weekend). Hungry for southern food, and with fingers crossed that there would be something child-friendly on the menu, we headed into Miss Clawdy. The chicken was amazing, perfectly spiced and crispy with a delightful sauce for dipping. The pulled pork po boys were also incredible and the perfect size for a light lunch. But the best thing about the whole experience (besides the attentive staff) was the free popcorn we received while waiting for our meals. It was so delicious, we just wanted to keep eating that! I don't know what spices they put on it but I want the recipe.
A great spot for a rowdy dinner with a group. The food is perfect for sharing, interesting enough to be a talking point while the night warms up, and hearty enough to soak up some of the drinks you're sure to enjoy. Great decor, with intimate areas so you can have loud, inappropriate conversations without offending other punters. Well at least I hope so.
Good lordy, Miss Clawdy the flavours you serve up pack a delightfully perfect punch! Thank you for being one of the consistently best proponents of Cajun cuisine in Auckland. Me visiting you means generally letting healthy eating go South - to always choose your finger-lickin', better-than-good, southern-fried chicken with chipotle and lime mayo. There's also your fantastic baby beetroot, quinoa and goat's curd salad that I use to, I guess, ‘balance things out’ - but then I go an order a 500ml jug of Miss Clawdy's punch - because it’s almost just as fine as you are. Love you, forever and always.
