Mondial is a great little Mediterranean style tapa bar located in the heart of Grey Lynn. With a bustling warm atmosphere it is a great spot to relax and catch up with people over some delicious (although smaller than hoped) tapas. We ordered the calamari, ceviche (with a good kick of chilli) and the meatballs. All were tasty and the sangria that washed it down was a good drop. Good if you’re in the market for a light meal but not ideal if you want a big feed!
We love Mondial for a warm and cosy catch up on cooler nights, the wine list is always inspired and the tapas is the best in town. It is big enough to handle larger groups but also has plenty of dark corners for catch ups of a more intimate nature, and you never feel rushed no matter what the hour. A Grey Lynn secret spot that has been a poorly kept secret with good reason!
If you haven't been here yet, what are you waiting for? This place feels like a genuine european wine and tapas bar. A little grungy, dark and bustly with tables close together this is great for a date, catch up with friends, dinner or drinks and nibbles. We stopped off most recently on our way home from dinner and had a couple of glasses of wine and some dessert in their cosy main area opposite the bar.
