Wellington is full of beautiful day walks. A tramp up to the summit of Mt Vic is one of the most popular and iconic. Take a picnic and a friend on a good day, there are fewer more beautiful places in this city to be.

The top of Mount Vic is ideal for a picnic (especially a romantic one) during the day or night. Get intrepid and climb the mountain or drive to the top, sit down and look out over the city or stargaze! Bliss!

The lookout at the top of Mount Vic is a great place to cuddle up close to escape the gusting wind. The view is, of course, totally worth it but a visit up there is also good for getting a little close to the objects of your affections.

Take an easy walk up to the Mt. Victoria Lookout or set aside an afternoon for hiking through the major trails. Mt. Vic offers free fun, with gorgeous views of both the city and sea.

The Mount Vic lookout is a beautiful place to admire Wellington’s beauty. There are two ways to the top; stairs, stairs and more stairs or through the ‘wildness’ that looks like the set of Lord of the Rings itself, and some of it actually is. After today’s early morning adventure, I decided it would be great to learn some yoga poses for the next time I decide to pop up there.

What is the ONE good thing about living on a fault line? Good hills for mountain biking close by! Mount Victoria is covered in snaking mountain bike paths that so often I found myself lost or going down a path I've never seen before. It makes for a great alternative to the gym and what gym has a view as good as the one from the top. Well worth the slog to get up there.
