The earthquake exhibit is superb. It is very informative, but also entertaining. I especially like being able to see the bell from the HMS Veronica and the pictures paired with the survivor stories. The rest of the exhibits can be a bit hit or miss, but the earthquake exhibit makes this a great place to spend a morning.

The not-to-be-missed exhibition, The Whetu Tirikatene-Sullivan: Travel in Style display at the MTG is on until March 2015 and showcases the stylish and ground breaking wardrobe of New Zealand's longest serving female MP and internationally recognised fashionista. Her style focuses on traditional signature garments incorporating Māori motifs by contemporary Māori artists commissioned from the late 1960s to the mid-1970s.

The MTG, Museum Theatre Gallery is the cultural heart of Napier and there are lots of educational highlights to interest the whole family, at any time of the year. Remember those days of the secret society. The Gathering of Taciturn Masters, or GTM, is recruiting new members these holidays and if you can answer their questions on the Kid’s Activity Trail you will be invited into a secret world of code breaking and fact finding.

A history lesson in style, here they use film and performing arts to tell the stories of our country. Something cool and different from the usual Museum visit.
