I did a beginners lesson a while back with my partner and we both really enjoyed it. Our instructor was great, you could tell he really knew his stuff and he got both of us standing up on our first lesson.

    Go learn to surf, they have great instructors for all levels of ability

      Go get some waves.

        At $20 for 1hr of surfboard and wetsuit hire ($40 for 3hrs; $55 full day), Muriwai Surf School make it easy to hit the waves on a whim. They also hire out a bunch of other beachy items, including umbrellas and volleyball sets - and offer daily surf lessons to suit every skill level.

          Great spot right on the beach. I had a surfing lesson two weeks ago which went really well, and I went back and hired a board last weekend. Friendly people who are passionate about surfing, highly recommended.

          We love Muriwai Surf School.  Ive taken lessons with them twice, and we rent all of our gear from them every time we go.  I went with a bunch of colleagues both times we took lessons, and it was fantastic.  They make a great effort to help everyone individually, and check in with you as you're in the water.  They also keep a very good eye on everyone, especially when the surf is rougher (as it usually is).  Their gear is in great shape, and I would not hesitate to rent from them again, or take another lesson! 

            Have been here quite a few times now... The staff are great and really helpful. Surf instructor are also very good. I would recommend this place to anyone that wants to learn to surf. They also have other bits and piece to hire too, like beach buggies - look 'em up online!
