New Flavour Restaurant is northern Chinese food big on portions and yes, on flavour. Food is fresh and at pocket change prices with minimal service and a very casual atmosphere. It’s also open extremely late – if you’re hungry at 1 AM and looking for a snack, come here.
Chinese tea is refilled continuously for free. A spicy chilli oil as well as soy sauce and black vinegar are plentiful for dumpling dipping according to your taste.
New Flavour is best in a group of four or more, with plates like the garlicky eggplant or deep-fried pork belly shared between you on the Lazy Susan.

New Flavour is the king of late night eateries, it is open from 5pm to a staggering 3am every night apart from Tuesdays. It has the best handmade dumplings in town as well as a host of other delicious items on the menu. My typical order sounds like this: steamed vegetarian dumplings(sometimes in hot and sour soup in winter), dried tofu and cucumber salad, spring onion pancakes and deep fried chilli cumin squid. It is a tried and true combination that I rarely change. Jasmine tea is complimentary and the service is surly but efficient.
Dominion Road houses quite a few really good dumpling houses. New Flavour is up there with the best of them. With great prices and a host of delicious choices you won’t leave hungry. Items I’d recommend from the menu are the pork and chive dumplings, the cucumber salad and chicken noodles (pictured). The New Flavour experience is best enjoyed with mates as the dishes are perfect for sharing.
Delicious food! While it's not something I would have ordered myself, we got the tofu and cucumber salad as we saw it recommended – and very glad that we did. Fresh and super tasty. We also got the prawn, egg & chive dumplings, the pork & coriander dumplings, and the crispy sweet & sour pork, all of which were lovely and the 4 dishes was plenty for 4 of us. Will be back. Would recommend going in a group as the dishes are very generous, and probably a bit too much of a good thing if don't have enough people to order a few dishes to share. Very busy!
