The most beautiful walkway in the North Island - and always busy whatever the weather!

The Coastal Walkway is another popular choice of fishermen, I’m not sure if they catch a lot but I have a sneaky suspicion it has something to do with the spectacular view; especially if they’re there before the sun so they can watch it rise. Of course they’d have to get their feet wet as the line wouldn’t go far at the top of the rocks, but this just makes the experience more “real” and genuine.

We are soooo lucky to having this stunning coastal walkway in New Plymouth. It is absolutely packed with cyclists, walkers, runners and skateboarders of ALL ages on a sunny weekend day, and deservedly so. Such a great investment by the Council. #shoutme

Bike riding, walking the dog, roller blading and jogging, these are all great things to do on the Foreshore Coastal Walkway. The walkway starts at Port Taranaki and goes all the way to Bell Block. It's a productive and healthy activity for you and your family to be doing for a day out of the holidays. Plus, it's good for toddlers too as there are lots of rest points along way to stop and take in the beautiful ocean views - not to mention a playground or two! There are also a couple of places to get a drink - my pick is the coffee caravan by the wind wand.
