Nicola's Cantina brings a little bit of Mexico to the heart of Nelson. Nicola Cantrick opened Nicola's Cantina after realising their was a gap in the Nelson food market, both in terms of street food and Mexican food.

Offering only the most delicious, authentic Mexican foods is what Nicola's Cantina prides itself on. They make all the favourites including burritos, tacos and tasty quesadillas. Adding the perfect amount of spice and special, secret sauces, makes Nicola's Cantina stand out amongst the rest.

More yumminess here - busy like all the good places (yes they do take bookings) and a great range of nosh - from nibbles and tapas style dishes to larger meals, depending on your appetite. Recommend the Carne Fajitas if you are hungry….

Excellent South American food at very reasonable prices. Good service and good atmosphere. But beware, book a table it is often booked out. #shoutme

Mexican food is traditionally fresh and full of flavour. Nicola’s Cantina food is delicious and there are plenty of healthy options including vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free. It’s basically Mexican street food cooked with flair. Order over the phone because it gets pretty busy in there!

Excellent atmosphere, great tasting food and friendly service #shoutme

Burritos to die for here at Nicola's! Try the pulled pork burrito - a great meal for $13.50. Then there are the nachos, quesadilla or tacos - plenty of options under $15. Wine is served in tumblers (apparently that's how they do it in Mexico) and you need to book because it gets busy....Ole

Just opened on Church Lane, this is the place to go for dinner on a long weekend. Great decor (think colonial grandeur with an undertone of peasant style), vast menu of Mexican delights (burittos, enchiladas, nachos and everything in between) and, while the Mexican’s don’t go for easter eggs and the like, the Mexican’s see Easter as a major holiday so it could be a good place to party!

Love the new digs - same great food - plush new space to dine in

Delicious fresh and tasty Mexican food with super friendly staff at lunchtime. If you want their food in the evening, go to their ‘hole in the wall’ on Hardy Street (next to Bike Barn Nelson) for a burrito on a Friday night. Best value for money in town!

Street food is an up-and-coming revolution in New Zealand, and Nelson is no different. Try Nicola’s Cantina for Mexican street food such as tacos, burritos and quesadillas. Expect nice desserts and coffee too.
