The Northcote Tavern is the North Shore's best kept secret! It is located right in the heart of Queen St and is a beautiful old building with a large carpark and outdoor area. There are several pubs inside this building (and a cafe and restaurant) which was cool, we went to Callans which was awesome. Family friendly and I can imagine on a rugby night (or any sporting night) it goes off!
Lovely premises, great service. My family and I went to Northcote Tavern a few times and the experince was amazing. There are very confortable couches and tables around a fire place as well as regular seating areas. We normally choose the couch as is a lovely corner and there are lots of toys for children to play with. The drinks are ordered at the bar and the food ordered at the kitchen on the back. Unfortunately the kitchen closes early. But the prices are good and the food delicious with a huge plate of food. Other than the kitchen closing early is a great experience althogether. There's also a gaming area and tab. Highly recommennd!
This old style pub brings out the best in fine quality pub food, with a top notch chef, who made the food experience one to remember for you usual but exotic pub food. the service by the waiters was extremely friendly and relied upon to carry out an order. their polite manners and bubbly attitude ,made the dining experience worth while. we would definately go there again, an all out banger of a place!
This isn't necessarily the closest pub to my house but it's my first choice when I want to go to a pub near home. It has two separate areas easily thought of as the working-man's half (complete with leaners, darts, pokies room and a TAB) and the family half (more comfortable to bring the kids or your Mum and Dad!). The food is solid, tasty, well made pub grub and being a family owned pub (they live upstairs) the staff are all very welcoming and friendly. They also have one of the best beer gardens you could ever want. Look out Summer! The beer selections could be a bit broader for my likings but that is the only thing I could be critical about.
