Oakley Creek spans over 11 kms, decorated by birdlife and native bush. This creek, leading to the majestic waterfall, is a true Auckland local secret. An easy 20 minute walk through some of Auckland's best kept native beauty brings you to the gushing waterfall, with a waterhole for you to wallow in.

There is an access point on Great North Road. It can be a little tricky to find - but thats all part of the adventure!

A waterfall in the city? Yes it’s true. Only a five minute walk down a pretty track just off Great North Road (yes really!), this waterfall is a beauty - especially after rain. This is a really secret swimming spot in Auckland central, if you’re brave enough to ignore the ‘Danger’ sign (I’m not). But you can watch the local kids doing huge bombs and back flips, and last time I took the kids here there was a family washing their dog under the waterfall. Not exactly eco-friendly but a funny thing for the kids to see.

This is the best way to beat the heat on the weekends! It's so close to the city and a local gem not many people know about. When you're done cooling off, there's a nice grass area you can relax and have a picnic on. The perfect free thing to do that keeps me happy in the summertime.

You really need a BIG dog to do this walk, preferably an alasation and our Snowy LOVED that place - he would catch rabbits, scared the bejesus out of me and then I'd be left with the spoils to sort out eek. Used to be filled with loads of pheasants when they let the grass grow naturally, but fairly good walk from Mt Albert through to Waterview.
