Olympic Park is located alongside the Avondale stream in New Lynn and was awarded the Outstanding Park Award 2007 by the New Zealand Recreation Association (NZEA). It's a popular spot for a range of outdoor activities including running, walking and several different sports with several sports facilities available.

Alongside a great playground, the park has large open spaces, streams, and a variety of art, from traditional inspired carvings to more modern abstract art. Tracks enable you to wander along the Avondale stream past the local artwork, and the Avondale spider sanctuary. The Avondale Spider, or Delena cancerides, was made famous as the eight legged 'killer spider' in Steven Spielberg's movie Arachnophobia.
