An early morning stroll around one of Auckland’s many markets is one of favourite ways to start the weekend and there is no other market quite like this one. The Otara Fleamarket is an experience unlike any of the others – it oozes culture. There is everything you could need all in one place; food from around the world, clothing, home ware, jewelry - I kid you not, this market has it all - including the kitchen sink! Without out a doubt it is the huge selection of fresh produce that brings me back time and again and I have learnt to go on an empty stomach because trust me, you are going to want to buy food here. I recommend taking the bus - the market is so popular you don’t want to waste your time in carpark gridlock.
Going to Otara market on a Saturday morning is definitely an interesting experience. I have brought visitors here just to show them a different side of Auckland. There are lots of cool stalls and there is plenty of good food on offer. You are guaranteed to meet some interesting characters here. I bought a gorgeous bag here and have stocked up on the cheap fruit and veg available.
