Auckland is the mulit-cultural South Pacific capital of the world and a melting pot for Pacific food and cultures. And nowhere celebrates this more than the annual Pasifika Festival, held at Western Springs Park.

For one weekend in March, the park comes alive to the buzz and loud sounds of the Cook Island and Samoan stages to the peaceful setting of the Niue and Kiribati villages. There's lots of great food to eat from traditional pineapple, coconut and watermelon ice creams to the barbecued delights found in the Hawaiian village. Meanwhile, the Pan Pacific village is full of lots of interesting local crafts and places to shop.

A family-friendly event, entry is free and this year's event takes place on March 12 and March 13. Localist's Kombi will be there so come down, say hi and share a love for the Pacific places in Auckland you love.

The diversity

Everything😍

Love the multi cultural feel and food. The one place I can visit all the South Pacific islands in one weekend

From the drums and the dancing to my favourite Rarotongan feast of Ika Mata (raw fish salad) and steamed taro leaves, I love everything about Auckland's Pasifika Festival. Ever since it's moved to its new home in Western Springs, it's a bigger, brighter and more culturally rich experience than ever before. If you want to experience all the joy, laughter, fabulous food and entertainment offered by Auckland's Pacific people, this is one festival I highly recommend. And the best bit is entry is free!
