On the Portobello Peninsular in Dunedin, you will find a flurry of small furry feet stomping throughout the soft South Island sands more commonly known as Penguin Place. A private conservation reserve dedicated to protecting the magestic yet endangered Yellow Eyed Penguin.

This natural attraction is a great activity for all ages and a great way to learn more about these happy feet fellows. Walking tours are available to all and offer sneak peeks into the breeding grounds and the opportunity to photograph them without disturbing their (dance?) routine.

Affectionately named 'Penguin Palace', take the penguin tour and marvel at the endangered Yellow Eyed Penguin. A great trip for the whole family - these cute little creatures will have you letting out a collective 'aww....'

Along the Portobello Peninsular is Penguin Beach, your best opportunity to watch tiny Blue Penguins come ashore at dusk. Volunteers are often around to make sure the penguins can move about safely, and you should stick to the taped off areas.
