Phu Thai Lanna is simply adorable! From the cute paper table settings, to the bubbly staff. You can sit in the window, and watch the world go by, as you indulge in what is likely the best Pad Thai in Wellington. The prices are very reasonable, which is surprising given the quality of both the food and service.

I was a regular here when I was a student in Wellington, as it was down the road from my house. Very friendly staff, and delicious food. I always go back when visiting Wellington and am never disappointed.

Had dinner here on Friday night, all the meals were huge and so, so good - but especially mine - Prawn Penang Curry, chocca full of prawns and the sauce was just divine, everyone else at the table kept stealing it for their roti bread!!

There is fierce competition when it comes to Thai restaurants in the capital. Off the top of my head I can think of 5 restaurants squabbling for own hard earned within 5 minutes walk in my particular part of town. Having frequented most of these, Phu Thai is the one I return to most often. Their Pad Thai is to die for, whilst the spring rolls are fresh, light and flavoursome. Housemates regularly come back with a takeaway, whilst BYO is also available. Perhaps more suitable for a group booking, as evidenced by the large groups dining away on weekends, yet weekdays are more intimate. Would definitely recommend taking your own plonk, however, as their drinks list is nothing to write home about.

Thai food always has, and always will, make an appearance in my top five choices of dining experiences. This in mind, I have searched far and wide throughout the Wellington region for tasty Thai! Phu Thai Lanna not only fills this spot in my belly, but appeals further with affordable prices and B.Y.O. I would have to recommend the Chicken Pad Thai, a peanut noodle dish that is a great option for someone who fears spicy food. What makes this Pad Thai better than any other I have tasted is it's rich peanut flavour. The atmosphere during most week nights is peaceful, if dining out on the weekend be prepared to get amongst the party goers.

Tom yum gai soup and its 4 degree outside. So nice and warm
