There’s no better place to hang in summer if you’re a local than at Queen’s Park Gardens. Located in the centre of Invercargill and right next to the museum and art gallery, this is the place to catch up with friends and kick a ball around.

The best park in NZ. Variety of animals. Amazing large children play ground. Beautiful gardens with flowers. You can see Tuatara from the Museum. Good place to take wedding photos

This place is certainly a grand old lady. A massive 80 hectares, you'll be exploring this place for days if you're not careful. If you're lucky you may get to view the tuatara. My favourite thing to do here is sit peacefully in the Henry Edginton Rose Garden.

What better way to celebrate the introduction to Spring than a stroll around the celebrated Queens Gardens in Invercargill. There is plenty to do and see for the family including the new additions to the family of animals that reside here, the fresh scent of the blossom trees, vibrant daffodils and tulips, and of course the wide expanse of the sought after playground will leave the kids breathless after months cooped up inside!

When living like a royal one must really have a proper English style park to stroll through. Queen’s park truly is fit for a queen, so don your Sunday best, grab your parasol and your new collection of china and head there for a right proper picnic.

Queen’s Park really is fit for a queen, with 17 lush, verdant hectares and a stunning array of areas to explore with you and the little ones. We love to check out the aviary and the animal park - not to mention the lovely Winter Gardens. Set aside a few hours and be sure to pack a lovely picnic! As a fun challenge, be sure to engage the kids in a game of "find the statues" - there are birds, seals, cupids and my personal favourite - a Peter Pan!
