An ode to Taranaki’s booming oil and gas industry, Rig 66 opened in early 2012 to give workers a watering hole to call their own.

Possibly the first oil and gas themed bar and restaurant in the world, Rig 66 features many photos of the industry on its walls and the ceiling is covered in a massive image that looks up the derrick of an oil rig.

With an estimated 5,000 full-time employees in the industry living in Taranaki, Rig 66 is a busy bar with a sunny outdoor area and a relaxed interior.

Everyone is welcome to enjoy live sports on large screens, classic pub meals, rock music and friendly service.

Rig 66 has an abundance of Mike’s craft beer, one of the most popular and well-loved craft beer in the whole country. This place has a great feel good vibe and has a genuinely good menu to go along with the craft beer. They’re open from Wednesday through to Sunday so go on down and try some of the Mike’s beer and perhaps grab a house made beef burger with caramelized onions to complement it?

This place has a good vibe and absolutely great food. It may just be "pub grub" but it's the best pub grub I've ever had, for affordable prices too! And I love the decorations.
