I've been to this place a number of times and the food is consistently good. They have a large range of burgers you can order and I especially enjoy their gourmet range. The service has always been quick and friendly. They do cost a bit more than other burger places and they do charge for sauces, but you get to sit back in a comfortable restaurant environment.
We went to this place on a Thursday night and it was packed. We'd called ahead to book and then called again to move our booking to a little earlier. Glad we did because I think we would have been waiting otherwise. I was surprised to see a suburban eatery so busy on a Thursday and perhaps they were too because they only had one person dedicated to getting drinks and waiting tables. Although there was a diner helping with drinks and the chefs brought some food to the tables as it was ready. It's a cosy place in the centre of Howick and is perfect for a relaxed catch up with family (there was a toddler running around when we arrived while his/her extended family did just that) or friends.
The Rock Fire Grill makes for a great place to catch up with friends for dinner. Or if you prefer to take away you’ll score a 10% discount. The restaurant is warm and toasty on the chilliest of evenings and there’s a wide selection of items to tempt you no matter what takes your fancy, they even have not 1 or 2 but 3 gourmet vegetarian burgers! Try their home made vegetarian patty and fruit chutney for a real taste explosion! The staff have always been super friendly and don’t try to boot you out the door when you’re done eating, instead creating a relaxed comfortable environment for you to shoot the breeze with friends. We love the stonework decor and the fact you can see and smell the burgers being flame grilled behind the counter, it’s an excellent way to get your appetite into gear! They’re happy to take bookings for events and functions and is our current restaurant of choice for dinner in Howick.
