There's nothing worse than unrolling your newspaper to find soggy chips and limp fish inside. Thankfully Ronnies is all about getting that quality Kiwi tucker right.

Crispy batter on the outside of their fish snaps it to attention while the chips are perfectly cooked.

Great stop over when your travelling through Tirau and need of some refuelling with pies, sausage rolls and sweet treats.

I'm a big fan of Ronnie's in Tirau. They make some rocking good pies with top notch golden, flaky pastry. I love that I know I won't get cheap pieces of fatty steak in my traditional steak and cheese. What I will get are some big meaty pieces that melt in my mouth because they are so uber tender. I think Ronnie's is definitely worth a stop for anyone driving out that way.

Pies, pies, and more pies…and great sausage rolls too. Pies are a guilt treat for me - so I try to hold out until I drive past Tirau on a roadie to Taupo. Then, I’ll let myself have one from Ronie’s, and boy, I’ll let myself really, really, enjoy it. It’s hard placed to find a good pie - so even though it’s a wee bit of a drive to get one, it’s 100%. Flaky pastry, chunky pieces of real meat, and so much flavour. I hope this one is sticking around for a while yet.

tasty treats at great prices!

Road tripped down to Masterton this weekend just gone for a wedding and we stopped off here for breakfast. Awesome sausage rolls, huge with flaky pastry and big chunks of onion (big sausage roll fan lol) - adding it to the ritual stops.
