Filmmaker Peter Jackson’s own cinema in Miramar, you know The Roxy will be top notch. The main screening room is adequately epic, as is the retro-futuristic mural painted on the ceiling of the grand foyer. With more than a few Weta Workshop touches and a LEGO model of the building at rest inside a plexiglass case upstairs, you’ll have to schedule at least 30 minutes of pre-screening ogling on your first visit.

    When you walk into the Roxy, it shows that some of Wellington's brightest cinematic minds have been involved in its establishment. The interior is mind-blowing, the food and drink options excellent, and there are so many things to look at (including a wee Lego mock-up of the building upstairs) as you head to your film.

      Roxy Cinema is an audaciously good cinema experience. Between the retro environment and their choice of films, Roxy makes the trip to Miramar well worthwhile. I recommend grabbing a meal at La Boca Loca beforehand for the full Neo Miramar experience.

        If you're watching a movie at the Roxy, it's worth going an hour early just to explore its finely curated interior. Once you've had your fill of ornament, lounge out and enjoy some of the fine food and drink before slipping into the theatre.

          Roxy is the best tribute to the golden age that Wellington has. The Art Deco styled theatre oozes glamour and sophistication. It is the perfect place to impress. The best part is, you don't even need to leave the cinema for a first class cocktail or dinner. Coco at the Roxy is sure to make your night that little-bit-more memorable. 

            Lots of cool stuff from Weta Workshop, beautiful surroundings, comfy seats and good movies.  Just a better experience than the usual suspects

              While Roxy theatre isn't in Wellington's CBD it's sure worth the trip out to Miramar the hollywood-suburb to catch a movie. Peter Jackson & Richard Taylor (and a few others) have done an amazing job of the Roxy Theatre!
