Satya South Indian Restaurant at the junction of Mt Eden and Boston Roads. Your dinning experience starts as soon as you open the door. Staff greet you as if a guest in their own home. Welcoming, relaxed yet extremely polite and courteous. Chairs dressed in rich indian fabrics, the terracota brick walls with a few south indian carvings and sculptures. Simple and uncluttered. The menu is extensive and made by chefs passionate about food and want you to enjoy only the best tasting food made with the freshest of ingredients. They're open seven days and pick ups OK.
The Mt Eden store may look a little lonely on a Wednesday night but it means you'll get super super fast service and amazing tasting food. What I like to do best is take away. I can't settle for super cheap indian takeaways anymore (though Satya is reasonably priced anyway). It just doesn't taste as flavoursome. Their standard is across the board with all their restaurants so you can rest easy and go to any location you want. Thick, sweet mango lassi with slivered almonds and cardamon in it, is definitely the best way to top off a meal. As a dessert though! Ask for a spoon ;)
