You know who your true friends are when you can get through a trip to this massive op-shop with them. This place is massive and you definitely have to be in the right frame of mind to trawl through the seemingly endless racks of clothes. You’re bound to find something great though, and it can be a lot of fun to try on all the ridiculous stuff you might come across in the randomly stacked rows.

Warning! You can literally waste hours here! I know because I've done it. This is basically a warehouse full of used clothing, most of it is between $5-$15, and generally in really good condition. Bargain-hunter paradise.

You need to set aside some time to do the SaveMart experience properly. Grab a trolley at the front and make your way around, grabbing anything and everything that catches your eye. Then, take everything to a dressing room and work your way through it. It can take a while, but you can find so many great clothes for super cheap.

Fancy a bit of opp-shopping on a Sunday? Usually you would be fresh out of luck but SaveMart is open seven days. Much more picked over of late (I'm looking at you, KRd op shops), but bargains can still be found.

We were heading to the Hard to Find book shop in Onehunga and figured it would be worthwhile checking out the Onehunga SaveMart on the way. It plays the role of a slightly smaller, less organised version of the New Lynn op shop. In saying that I think the price point in general was a bit lower than the other monster second hand stores. It’s not quite as well catalogued but there are still some diamonds to be found among the mountains of coal. I picked up a retro pair of Adidas sneakers and a Keith Harring tee for an absolute steal.

Great for dress up outfits and there is the odd jem you find.

NOW THIS is the place to go for bargains !  What a HUGE shed full of amazing stuff to choose from !  LOVE the selection and variety of childrens clothes available and there is always something new to check out each time you go ! Great section of women's designer clothes too at AWESOME prices !  Picked up a pair of Levi jeans which looked brand new and unworn - they only cost me $20 - BARGAIN! Lots of smaller items for the kids e.g. pants, shirts, tops, skirts all at good quality and barely used or worn - all around $5 - $8 each !!  Good selection of kiddy books too and other miscellaneous stuff like...shoes, blankets, sheets, scarves etc.. Picked up a 100% wool blanket for $20, these are worth well over $100 and it was in perfect condition ! Will be coming back here again next week !!

They have some amazing clothes in here- as long as you are willing to put the time into looking! I often find 'normal' sized clothes in the plus size section.

I'm a sucker for second hand clothes. Especially the ones that you find that that are pretty much brand new but are a quarter of the price you'd normally pay. . If you're unfamiliar with second hand shopping, you'll get a headache when you walk into most second hand stores. They're either large and utterly confusing or small and cluttered and it'll seem virtually impossible to find anything in both scenarios. Don't give up just because you've had some bad experiences, because once you figure out the secret, you'll be hooked. A wardrobe filled with designer labels at quarter of the price and one of a kind vintage gems that your friends will be jealous of. Save Mart Onehunga is the place to start. In my opinion the best second hand store in Auckland for both it's price and it's range. It's a reasonably large shop but don't let that scare you. There are signs telling you what each row holds - pay attention to these as they will stop you from getting lost. Make sure you grab a trolley so if you see anything you like just chuck it in there. You can always put it on the hanger later if you change your mind. The trick is anything you vaguely like put it in your trolley, most clothes look better on the body than on the hanger. Ladies, most of the designer clothes are up the front so you can't miss them. There is a secret place I have to tell you about. It is to your right between the shoes and the lingerie, where there is a rack you must always check out. This is where they keep the high end designer brands - definitely worth a look. Guys, don't worry there is a huge section for you right at the back. Jeans galore and some great threads. The turnover of clothes is pretty much weekly so every time you go it's like heading to a new store. But be warned - this place may ruin your next shopping experience if it's not at Save Mart because you won't stop thinking things like... "$100 for this shirt? I could get that for $10 at Save Mart"
