Visitors to SheepWorld Farm & Nature Park can enjoy a step by step insight into enterprising New Zealanders farm our sheep, then harvest and use their wool.

In the twice-daily shows the dogs round up and bring in the sheep, which are then sorted and shorn. SheepWorld's Wonderful Wool multimedia exhibition then explains and demonstrates how the fleece is put to an amazing variety of uses.

As well as demonstrating the NZ sheep and wool story, SheepWorld allows visitors to feed, touch and interact with tame animals who would love to make friends with you and your family.

Seeing animals up close is a childhood wonder. Feeling the oily wool on the sheep or the hard bristles on a pig is an important part of growing up and learning about the animals around us. Sheepworld Farm and Nature Park keep kids thoroughly entertained and give them a great learning experience, specially if you don’t have these sorts of animals at home. I love how interactive they are, letting kids milk cows and feed lambs. Everyone gets to touch and the kids leave with massive grins wanting piglets for christmas!

I went to sheep world with my classmates when some Japanese students came to visit our school and everyone had a blast. It was so much fun watching the dogs get the sheep, feeding the lambs and holding the animals. It was especially funny watching the teachers and students trying to shear the sheep...it's definitely not something us city kids would do everyday! Even the gift shop was fun. It's not really a place that you want to spend ages there however as once you have seen everything, there's not much else to do. However both us kiwis and the Japanese students enjoyed it there and there are heaps of photo opportunities!

Superb :)

This place is really good for kids. Went along with a school trip to this place and it was really cool for the kids. There are a number of things to do, including petting the lambs, boars, deer and kids (goats). Not only that but they have show put on to explain the job the sheep dogs do, and how intelligent they are. All finished off with some lamb feeding! Well worth the short drive north!

Took a friend who is over from California up to Sheepworld last week. She had a blast. As did we. She got to sort the sheep through into different areas, even got to take some of the sheep's wool home. Feeding the little lambs and the baby goats was definately a highlight.  As they are all so so cute. I just wanted to take them home. I have been a couple of times now in winter and summer and it's great all year around. But probably best close to or during spring time as you get to see all the little baby animals. You also get to feed some of the other animals around the farm buy purchasing a small bag of pellets when you go through the gift shop. It's a great day out and quite informative for kids and tourists alike. I definately recommend this to all!
