Great menu and the food is really good. Service provided by the staff was excellent. It busy but they have enough staff on to cater for this.

If you ever wanted to impresses the missus, this is a good place to go. A top notch menu, filled with delicious food, and a number of words I had to have translated to me (always a good sign in a restaurant!). Very nice atmosphere even though it is right on Ponsonby Road. Great for a fancy lunch meeting, or a romantic dinner out. Worth a visit.

There is always a great vibe when you walk into spqr. It is a great place to wine and dine with friends. It is a liitle bit noisy so I would avoid if that doe not sound like your cup of tea. The menu is amazing and I love their platters to share with a group of frinds. They have an awesome selection of wine and the staff are very friendly.

SPQR is perfectly located in the centre of Ponsonby, and if you are lucky enough to get one of their outside seats you can watch the world go by as you eat. It is a little bit expensive, however the food is great and they do a good working luch menu which allows you to have 2 courses for $35. Be warned if you order the creme brulee though..it is huge!!!!

SPQR is a long-standing Ponsonby icon. The team from Focus spent a few lazy hours here one Friday evening recently for a celebratory dinner and the reasons for it's popularity were obvious. The staff were friendly, fun, patient and attentive. They catered to our requests while also offering helpful suggestions - without being pushy or overbearing. We ordered a selection of antipasti, primi piatti and tasting plates, and everything was absolutely delicious - there was not one morsel left after our 3+ hour feast. Of particular note were the mouth-wateringly moreish Eye Fillet Carpaccio and the immaculately presented Grilled Scallop, Prawn and Prosciutto tasting plate. The pizza bread and platters were also very well received by our group - everything was fresh and incredibly tasty and the wines we enjoyed were a perfect match for the food. We would definitely return as a group in the future. We loved that there was the option to have the shared platters rather than the more traditional route of starters and mains - however I know many among our group are also keen to return to trial the pastas, pizzas and other appetizing main dishes on offer.

good photograper 'wink'

Great alcohol choices and the staff are always pretty on to it with their knowledge. Their scampi is always, always fresh. Such sweet delicious meat! It's always bustling, noisy and busy here but it's dark inside with candle light so it makes for a cool place to be. The pasta dishes are fresh and the pizza always has a thin crispy base. Just the way I like it!

Came here for a work dinner, and loved it. This place has a mix of elegance and casual at the same time (depending where you are seated) The atmosphere is great and the staff are qwerky characters who were fun, fast and approachable. The platters were of a beautiful range of roasted peppers, calamari, toasted breads, buffalo mozzarella, proscietto and salmon. Would definately return, and would love to try the pizza for lunch!

Really fantastic vibe, staff are fantastic, food is superb. Its a bit noisy, but thats what you get when you are popular I suppose!! Love it here.

Always reliable, SPQR. Never lets you down.

They had a great deal this month... buy one bottle of Veuve Cliquot and they'd upgrade it to a magnum at no extra charge. When we went on Saturday night, they'd run out of the magnums, but gave us two bottles of champagne for the price of one. The food and service was delicious. For starters, try the classic platter or the prawns. I had the mushroom and blue cheese pizza which was divine!

The Saffron Risotto at SPQR Is something that is not to be missed. A great wine list to boot - this is a classic Auckland restaurant worth a visit!
