St Heliers Bay Cafe and Bistro

Last night the man-thing’s folks (St Heliers locals) decided to treat their offspring - and me - to dinner in the hottest new joint local to them. No bookings available and this place is heaving! The fit out in this new building is incredible, luxe but relaxed. We enjoyed champagne and complimentary sparkling water while waiting half an hour for our table. Then onto our entres - scallops for me with radish avocado and greens. For my main I tried the special fish - crispy skinned snapper with zucchini, tomatoes and olives. Unfortunately I promised to swap half for half of the other half’s main - it was so delicious I didn’t want to give it up. The service was a little frazzled but full of personality - our server berated is for being boring when we ordered the same desert for each of us. I observed that I couldn’t imagine anyone not ordering a chocolate and peanut butter ganache. Highly recommended, go there now.
