Streat Kitchen is a popular food cart run by kiwi Michael McMeeken and his American partner Tami Mansfield. Having trained under some of the world's top chefs including Gordon Ramsay, Michael was inspired by the food cart villages in Tami’s home city of Portland.

Following a stint at the Boat Shed Cafe, he opened his cart on Bridge Street with the aim of providing restaurant-quality food at affordable takeaway prices.

Offering a different fish, meat and vegetarian option each day along with a range of sliders, meals are freshly made and can be enjoyed from a number of outside tables.

Try a fish slider at Streat Kitchen for a quick, tasty fresh fishy lunch - a pan seared slice of fish in between two sides of a soft white bun. Yummy.

This is my pick for a hassle free weekday lunch - try the fish sliders or yummy kebabs from one of the food carts, and sit out in the sun to enjoy it. Streat Kitchen operates from an empty lot on Bridge Street, not far to walk but far enough to stretch your legs and get some fresh air. And the food is delicious and very well priced.

I enjoyed yet another incredible lunch for $13 in a vacant lot. Tender grilled beef with jus, potato butter mash and seared fennel!

What a lovely surprise! I had the most delicious fresh Snapper with fresh sweetcorn and mushroom jus. 5 star food in a (nice) vacant piece of land!
