Located on Te Awamutu's main shopping street, Sugoi Sushi sells a range of authentic Japanese sushi, sashimi, miso soup and a couple of hot rice and noodle dishes. Open 7 days a week, it has recently expanded into what was formerly the British sweet shop next door, allowing more space for customers to dine in.

Good takeways are healthy takeaways (that’s not too say greasy takeaways aren’t allowed). Sugoi Sushi in Te Awamutu is authentically Japanese . I love their sashimi to go, combined with a warm miso soup for those cold winter nights coming up. The service is always top notch too, all the more reason to keep going back.
Sushi is the perfect summer food. It’s light, fresh and fun! This is one of the best places in the Waikato to get your fill. Great service, plenty of choice and really good value. This is a popular place for locals and travellers alike, so be prepared for a little queue. The staff are pretty efficient so you shouldn’t be waiting long!
