TANTO Japanese Dining is an 'IZAKAYA' style casual dining bar restaurant that offers a variety of small 'TAPAS' dishes to share. They also provide catering services for home, office, and picnic group parties, including finger food and a variety of sushi.

This is our go-to for a great dinner out and we're never disappointed. The staff are really friendly and the food is excellently authentic and so delicious. The udon noodles and the tuna roll are my favourite, but everything I've tried on the menu so far has never failed to disappoint. You can't go past the dessert menu for the green tea brulee either, it's probably my favourite dessert in Auckland which is no mean feat.
This is the place to get the best sashimi in Auckland. If you sit at he back counter you can watch the experts prepare it. If you want something a little dfferent the spider roll sushi( soft shell crab) and the octopus with wasabi are worth a go. The restaurant has authentic decorations and overall has a good feel to it.
Tried Kuni's (one of the original owners of Taiko, Kingsland) new restaurant last night (admittedly not that new, but is the first time I have made it there). And it was exceptional, from the Raw Tuna & Avocado special, to the Sashimi to the black sesame pana cotta with sugar cane syrup and green tea icecream. A must for people who love quality Japanese Cuisine in a casual dining environment.
