On your way to the Top of our North Inland is Cape Reinga BUT to the right is a Suburb of Te Hapua! Where the Whanau are Friendly and are always waiting to help you out if you are ever in need! Gorgeous place and man it is HOT in the Summer!

There’s something really special about sleeping at the very tip of NZ. The journey through the Far North is spectacular in itself, then once you get there it’s so still and peaceful. You can be the only person there if you visit in the off season. With no shops for miles or any sign of civilisation it’s a very precious place.

I feel like every Kiwi needs to stay at the very tip of the country. Bedding down in idyllic Tapotupotu Bay is a great experience for adult and child a like. Cape Reinga seems like a different world considering how remote it is and the slightly stopped-in-time lives people lead up there. It definitely feels more like island time! This campsite is calm, serene and balmy in the summer time. The ocean normally laps gently at the beach so you can paddle around without being hyper-vigilant about the little ones. At $6 a night for an adult it’s some of the cheapest accommodation you’ll ever find too!

The northern-most campsite you can stay at in New Zealand, Tapotupotu is a 1 hour walk from the Cape Reinga Lighthouse. It has a wild grassy site to camp on, right beside the white sand of the bay.
