This bustling Saturday market is a bit of an institution, being the first in the Bay. It’s the ideal place to get the best of the regions produce, including some of Waikato’s small producers. The don’t call this area the Bay of Plenty for no reason and it grows more than world-class avocados and kiwi fruit. I’ve been coming here for years’ and seen the market grow. Even well-behaved dogs are welcome. Local canines look forward to the Saturday catch-up and raw meaty bites and aromatherapy products from Raw Pawz and maybe even a blueberry doggie biscuit treat from Mamaku Blue.
Now the days are warmer if you haven't been a frequent visitor now is the perfect time to capture a really good local morning out at the historic Tauranga Primary School. The new season's produce is starting to roll out - Hass avocados, asparagus, strawberries and tomatoes at a reasonable price. All that yummy freshness and goodness just waiting to be made into a delicious meal.
If you’re lacking gardening skills you can still buy the results of someone else’s hard work and green-fingered talents at the Farmers’ Market each Saturday morning. Held at the Tauranga Primary School on Cameron Rd the market runs from 7.45am to midday on Saturday and features fresh fruit and veg as well as beautiful pre-made foods, fish, bread, cheese, samosas and plenty more!
There’s nothing better than sampling new season produce as the seasons change, and what better place to do it than at the Tauranga Farmers Market? Feel good about buying local and supporting local growers. It’s on every Saturday from 8 to 12 at Tauranga Primary School between Arundel St, Cameron Rd and 5th Avenue.
