The Bethells Cafe is a summertime cafe consisting of a small food cart and outdoor seating area in Te Henga Park. Serving visitors to the nearby beach for over 40 years, it is currently run by the friendly Wheeler family.

Selling coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juices, smoothies and a variety of hot food and baked goods, they are open from 10am to 6pm on Saturday and Sundays from Labour Weekend onwards.

Call in on Friday nights from December when the place really comes alive with customers enjoying live music while tucking into some delicious pizzas and burgers in the evening sun.

Friday night music is a lovely way to start the weekend.

    I love the little cafe wagon at Bethells Beach. It must be such a hard work to haul all the food out there and for the location, I was really surprised how fair the prices are. The pastry we had was super yummy and so was the ginger toddy. I can't wait for it be open more often in summer. I heard that there was music on Friday nights last summer. Hope that will be the same this summer so I can check it out!

      A great family excursion through the sand dunes to the lake for a well deserved swim, then back to the café for a well earned drink or ice cream. Healthy and cost effective
