The Drawing Room is a super cute and relatively unassuming find in the Mount, but word is spreading and it’s becoming pretty popular. The decor is great, with a selection of local art gracing its walls (hence the name). They have a small but varied menu of extremely well executed staple dishes with a small dessert menu that is kickass too!

This Mount Maunganui restaurant was formerly named Two Small Fish but a few years ago the owners gave it a spruce up and renamed it The Drawing Room. Most of their seafood dishes are on the starters menu and include raw kingfish, fried squid, chilli prawns and pan-fried scallops. Flick through your retro cookbook-style menu and you’ll find Hazelnut and Panko crumbed snapper and pan-fried hapuka, snapper or john dory offered as ‘mouth-water mains’.

The Drawing Room is one of the trendiest restaurants in Tauranga, and their food lives up to their strict standard of quality, innovative dining. The roasted high-country lamb rump with dauphinoise potato, caponata and giant olives is a must. It’s a rustic dish done to perfection.

Delicate meals that are bursting with flavour, and the rowed seating and set menu prices give a fresh take on dining. The creative window painting is forever changing and gives the perfect artistic touch.
