The Powestation goes off in the same way the St James used to. It is one of my favourite venues in Auckland for watching live music. Over the years I have seen countless bands play there including the Shins and MGMT. The layout means that you can generally get a good view of the performers and the fact that it isn’t too huge means that you feel engaged with the performers.
I recently went to the Powerstation, where I have been going since I was a teenager. The best thing about the Powerstation is that wherever you stand you can see the act - even if you're a shorty! I also love that it's never oversold, even at a sold out gig. There are always plenty of spots to be found where you don't have to rub up against sweaty concert goers.
I had been wanting to go to this venue for ages and finally I got the opportunity a little while back when I went to see the Kaiserchiefs. It was a great night, this venue is all about the music and not about special effects and overpriced drinks. You wont get any acts miming here, this is the place for people who enjoy real live music. It is fairly small intimate venue with very little seating and although it gets quite warm you hardly notice as it is so lively and you really get involved and sing along!
Was here last night and was fabulous again. Sound is brilliant, the venue is smallnand intimate with a stage up high so even the shorties can see. Always plenty of bar staff on so never to long a queue. Nice little bar upstairs which takes EFTPOS and is nice to hang out in before the bands… Seen some massive bands here…. Love it! Aircon was a bit cool last night tho….
