    A classic Kiwi pub slash hotel, I love the Theatre Royal in Kumara for its awesome service, décor and gold mining history. The starting point for the Coast-to-Coast and on the track of the South Island’s West Coast Wilderness Trail, there’s a lot to love about this place!

      I love Kumara and I love Theatre Royal Hotel. After two years of renovations in 2010, this place is the best place to lay your head at night. Definitely one of the best places on the West Coast, stay for the night or just lunch.

        The epic Theatre Royal Hotel is located in a delightful wee town of Kumara. The historical building plays host to a bar, and of course, a hotel. Get to know the friendly locals at this favourite watering hole.

          We had a delicious dinner here on a rainy Saturday night. The service was friendly and good with a bit of West Coast cheek, and the food was very good - try the fillet mignon or the lemon meringue pie for a yummy meal. We didn't stay here but checked out the rooms upstairs and it's very nicely decorated as a country hotel with all the whistles and bells. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here or eat here next time I am on the coast.
