Tongariro National Park is the mother of all national parks in New Zealand. I love that there are so many walking tracks to do in the National Park and that each time I go, there's one I haven't tackled before. My latest visit involved walking to the historic Waihohonu Hut - a 6.3km walk return from Desert Road to a hut built circa 1903/1904 by the Government. Great for photography - it covers beech forest and open tussock land, and cross the the Ohinepango Stream. LOVE it!

If you love tramping or camping in the great outdoors, Tongariro National Park is a must-do on every Kiwi's bucket list. In the winter, it's the outdoor playground for great skiing and snowboarding and in the summer, the park is an awesome spot for tramping and mountain-biking. Stay in Ohakune in a chalet and make the most of life in one of New Zealand's most majestic national parks.
