Located next to the Auckland Regional Botanic Gardens, Totara Park is one of South Auckland's premier parks. Stretching over 216 hectares, the land was purchased by the council in 1966 and is open to the public for numerous recreational activities.
Home to an abundance of native bush and wildlife, there is a popular adventure playground onsite, along with a tennis court, swimming pool, picnic areas, BBQ facilities, walking tracks, a series of mountain bike trails and the Beaufords homestead.
Head to the lookout point off Eugenia Rise where you can enjoy views out to Rangitoto Island.

Love Totara Park, this popular spot in South Auckland is not too far from the Manukau Shopping Centre. It is not only beautiful but there is so much to do from strolling or running around the many tracks throughout the park. Going for a swim in the pool or playing a game of tennis. There are often free events including live bands which are always entertaining. We usually pack a picnic basket and take the family along. Best of all it is free, perfect when on a tight budget.
One of Auckland’s newest bike trails and close to the city centre. The trails are perfect for a beginner to intermediate. You’ll be able to enjoy patches of beautiful native bush and a little bit of creek action. Some of the tracks aren’t as well thought out as other parks but you can’t beat the close proximity to Auckland and the surroundings.
Unless you live out south chances are you’ve never heard of Totara Park - which is a shame because you are missing out! This is a park I have been going to since I was a little kid, draw cards back then were the two awesome adventure playgrounds (especially the hidden one with flying fox) and the horses trotting along one of the treks. Oh and the outdoor pool! Now days its where I head to when I want a decent walk through the bush for a bit of a light workout. With the new addition of mountain biking trails Totara Park is definitely an all rounder.
