Take a ride up the cable car to the top and be rewarded with a panoramic view over Wellington City and its beautiful harbour.

    It might not be much to write home about for the university students and Kelburn residents who use it as a form of transport everyday, but the little ones are bound to be impressed by a ride on the cable car – especially when they go through the tunnel. Make an afternoon of it with the museum and the botanic gardens at the top.

      Having used the cable car to get to up to uni for many years I am always amazed by the looks of wonder that children get as they ride to the top of Kelburn on this antique. There is something about the experience that kids love and once they get to the top the museum and the botanic gardens await.

        Who doesn’t love a ride in the cable car - so much more pleasant than walking up the hill!

          Very neat public transport in the heart of Wellington, must try it at least once and then again and again. Nice slow beautiful view ride up, good way to start the date!

            The cable car is so vintage, so traditional and old school with a driver driving the cable car. The view up was just so amazing, overlooking Wellington city! $2 return trips for students. Defs cheap and affordable!

              Came here many years ago when in primary, returned for Festival for the Future '12 and got a tour of the city by a local. Was such a cool ride! Need more cable cars. Beautiful views. $1 one way for a tertiary student. So cheap! Nice & must do thing-to-do!
