Western Springs Park is a large wildlife sanctuary located 8 minutes drive from the CBD. Surrounding a lake fed by natural springs, facilities include walking tracks, drinking fountains, picnic tables, BBQs and a kids playground.

Situated beside major attractions including Auckland Zoo and MOTAT, the stadium has hosted big name international acts such as the Foo Fighters and Eminem.

The lake is a refuge for the orea eel, with many native trees and bird species to be found in the park including the Pukeko.

Check out the annual Pasifika Festival, one of numerous events held onsite.

Western Springs is a beautiful park which is an excellent place to either have a picnic or take a scroll and see the little duckies and swans. If your looking for a weekend out with the family, Western Springs has it all. We took a group of senior citizens to the park and they truly enjoyed it very much.

Perfect day for the festivities!!! Lots to eat see and do and plenty of tunes.

Such a lovely walk round this park, Love when all the baby swans and ducklings are born! Beautiful Central Park to spend your time off at!

Western Springs Park is both fitness and family friendly, Take the kids to feed the ducks (and swans and pukekos), or hit the fitness route with a friend. Auckland Zoo and Motat are both right next door too, if you feel like moving on to something a little more adventurous.

This is a great spot to let your littlies run around and have a bit of open space.  There's a pretty good playground that is easily accessed from the zoo carpark.  There are also a lot of ducks/swans etc.  This can sometimes mean you have to watch where you step, but still fun to take some old bread to feed them.  It's close to MOTAT and the zoo, and pretty central.  Western Springs also hosts Pasifika once a year, which is a great festival to attend.

This is a beautiful spot in Auckland, during Spring especially, as there are lots of baby ducks, geese and swans to see. We sometimes get takeaways from nearby in Grey Lynn, and head here to eat them - it's a really nice spot for dinner. They have a great children's playground, plus a lake that you can walk around in about 15 mins, which is a really nice little walk to do.
