Zippy Central is a popular cafe located in central Rotorua. Established in 1998 and owned by Morgan Wilson, the cafe is a favourite hangout for local mountain bikers with a number of bike stands situated outside and biking magazines on the tables.

Serving what regulars say are some of the best coffees and bagels in town, they also offer a range of simple meals from their blackboard menu with plenty of options for healthy eaters.

Customers can enjoy free wifi, some interesting retro-style furnishings and a collection of colourful artworks adorning the walls which can also be purchased.

Best bagels around at this retro funky café. Expect lots of bike talk. They’re really supportive of the amazing trails in the region. Very good coffee and great breakfast dining.

    The second favourite spot for tourists (after the king of all Rotorua cafes, Fat Dog) yes, of course Zippy has free wifi! Another ace place to surf and and get your caffiene fix.

      Great, great coffee! and I love it how they put little M&Ms as treats on the side. I always throw mine into my coffee so I have a chocolately surprise at the end. Zippy have been doing amazing coffee in Rotorua since the cafe boom in the 90s, so along with the famed Fat Dog Cafe, these guys are coffee making veterans.

        Following in the footsteps of Fat Dog; Zippy also offers giant-sized salads. My fav is the Marinated chicken salad, it’s mouth-watering goodness at it’s yummiest.

          I love Zippy’s. I’ve been coming her since I was a teenager in the 90s and I never get tired of the food. Firstly their servings are HUGE and secondly everything is so tasty. Such a great place to spend a lazy weekend morning/afternoon.

            Zippy personifies the chilled-out, relaxed vibe of Rotorua. With it’s eclectic retro decor and super-friendly staff you’ll feel right at home… and of course, the food is great! The menu ranges from classic cafe food such as potato wedges and nachos, through to more substantial dishes like pasta and gourmet burgers. Every time I eat at Zippy I’m always surprised by three things: amazing staff, great coffee and HUGE, delicious meals– every time me and my friend wish we’d order one meal between the two of us. Great value for money.
