So there is this alternative supermarket called Commonsense Organics, and they have Hemp Milk, and Almond Milk, and Oat Milk!!! Phoenician Cuisine create masterful Lebanese food, generally centered around kebabs, salads and other dishes. The food is perfectly prepared, super food for you, and all available for takeaway in rush.

This place has some of the best chocolates in Wellington. They even have a sugar-free range, which is amazing to say the least.

Formerly a normal dairy, in recent years Nic Nac’s has become an incredible supplier of boutique sweets and chocolates. The English import range in particular is amazing.

Nine times out of ten, Milk Crate has some remarkable sweet baked goods on the counter. Paired up with great coffee, they’re always a good option.

Deluxe Cafe has a fantastic range of sweet counter food, usually with gluten free or vegan options available as well. If you’re down Courtney Place, Deluxe is the move.

Floridita’s baked goods are mouthwatering. Try them out for yourself, you won’t be dissapointed.

Crumpet is always manned (or womanned) by friendly and stylish bar tenders who can make one hell of a drink. If you need a non-alcoholic option, they got you as well - and how about those tasty crumpets? Nom!!!

I’m not overstating things here, Hashigo Zake have ALL OF THE TYPES OF BEER. Even better, they’re located in a cool Asian themed basement and have great bar food options on the side.

Havana Bar is one of the best places to have a drink in town. The Central American themed environment is something else, as are the staff, the menus, and for those who can’t consume alcohol but want in on the fun - the mocktails! A+

For some quiet or not so quiet drinks with friends, Matterhorn is still the quintessential spot. You can have a chill couple of hours, or the wildest night of your life - it’s all happened here. Quality on quality on quality.

Whether you’re headed in for a burger and fries for dinner, or weekend brunch, Monterey is the premier dining spot in Newtown. While the food is spectacular, so is the coffee and drinks menu. Always a good time.

Bebemos is the most Melbournesque (think Brunswick Street/Smith Street) style eatery I’ve come across in Wellington. The menu is good, and their outdoor beer garden somewhat essential in summer. This is an easy spot to take it easy at.

Outdoor taco trucks, blaring Latin American music, amazing Mexican food and lovely staff. On a warm evening, Viva Mexcio Newtown is a must.

More takeways than eat-in, Fish Fins is the essential Newtown fish and chip shop. Those lemon pepper fish fillets and chunky fries are delicious. Add in some salad and you’re away. Eat your food in a park somewhere nearby, enjoy the outdoors.

Pranah is another classic Newtown spot. They have one of the better vegetarian menus around. Both the counterfood and menu items are delicious.
