Known for its barreling left-handers, you can expect a decent crowd out Blackhead when its firing. Failing that, the beach is dog friendly too - ideal for letting the pooch have a run around.

Over a few fences, down a couple of sand dunes and hidden away in the corner of Allans Beach is arguably Dunedin’s best right-hand break. The Cove as its known, produces a slabby right-hander that’ll either leave you in tears or with the biggest grin you’ve ever had.

Populated by a few locals, seals and the occasional penguin, Aramoana’s about as remote as it gets in Dunedin. Be sure to check it out at low tide when there’s a decent Northerly swell - they’ll be plenty of waves to be had.

Set down an alleyway off George Street, Copa bar is an off-the-beaten-track, bass heavy bar, perfect for raving out to 4am on any given Thursday, Friday or Saturday.

Probably the only acceptable place in town for grown men to belt out 80s classics - get there before midnight before it packs out.

Student friendly, awesome service and the foods impeccable! Everything from the mixed grill to the gourmet pancakes are to die for. These guys have nailed it!
