Best baby friendly places
- 140Got everything me, little one and husband need - good baby changing facilities, high chairs, friendly staff who welcome families and babies, great coffee, beer and food. Lots of activities for all ages at The Cross
- 26Wellington Regional Aquatic CentreKilbirnieSo, so, so baby friendly. There are nipper swimming lessons in the hydrotherapy pool (nice and toasty warm), with great swimming teachers that know what they’re doing. Good baby changing facilities, good spaces for babies and parents to hang out, and a family friendly cafe for after your swim!
- 35Elements CafeLyall BayOne of Wellington’s finest cafes, I reckon. This was one of our top three haunts for brunch pre-baby and they still welcome us back with open arms even though our needs are different now. Good baby changing facilities (I can’t lie, I’m low maintenance on this front now, as long as there is a table so I don’t have to change the baby on the floor, I’m happy!), staff who are happy to move furniture for the buggy and help you down the small amount of steps. The first time I needed to change my baby we couldn’t find the change table so I emailed them. They get huge kudos in my book that they responded and apologised that I didn’t find the loo with the table and that they would remind their staff to point it out to guests with bubbas. Best pate in Wellington.
- 43Mojo Coffee Wellington ZooNewtownAll Mojos I’ve been into post baby are good for parents and babies, but Mojo Zoo is awesome. The change facilities are out of the cafe in the Zoo entrance and they are fantastic (good chair, changing facilities, even a microwave if you need to heat up food or bottle - although some parents don’t like to use a micro for this, I’m cool with it). The buggy fits into the room and there is even a toilet for mum (told you my needs were low maintenance)!
- 59Clark's CafeWellington CentralThe cafe has always been a staple of mine - great cabinet food and coffee. There is a play area for bigger kids and round the corner is a really good parents room with good change facilities and good feeding chairs. If I have to get out of the house on a rainy day this is my fave place to go - I can park in the basement at the library, feed and change baby in the parents room, (go to the loo with the buggy in the disabled toilet - I know, I know, but sometimes you just gotta go, amiright?) and then have a fantastic coffee and good sandwich at Clark’s. We can also get our library books and DVDs. The library does story time on Wednesday mornings for small bubs.
