- 11NZDC Choreographic Activator with Claire O'NeilAuckland CentralWith with Claire O’Neil and The New Zealand Dance Company 15-19 February 2016 Calling all tertiary, graduate and professional dancers (and all those in between!). Be inspired, challenged, refreshed and stimulated by Claire O’Neil and The New Zealand Dance Company in our first Choreographic Activator for 2016. Open to all tertiary, graduate and professional dancers and choreographers, this Choreographic Activator kicks off NZDC’s 2016 New Dance Makers Development Programme with a week of ideas, tools and tasks. Be engaged by daily technique classes, lectures, practicums and choreographic sessions collaboratively alongside other participants, NZDC’s 2016 choreographic interns and company dancers. Dates: Mon 15 – Fri 19 February 2016 9.30am – 5pm daily. We warmly invite you to join us in our body research and technique classes. These are professional level dance classes. - 21YEP Tauranga Summer School 2016TaurangaJoin us as The New Zealand Dance Company returns to Tauranga to present yet another jam packed and engaging week of dance, featuring master teacher Michael Parmenter and UNITEC graduate Ashleigh Coward. Learn from established and exciting choreographers, a unique opportunity to work with one of NZ’s master teachers. Five days of contemporary technique, partnering and exciting repertoire, finishing with a performance for family and friends. Enrolments open now and close on 14 December. Location: Dance Education Centre, 228 Levers Road, Tauranga Ages: Open to students aged 11 years + (younger students by special application) Cost: $350 inc. GST Performance at 4pm Friday 22 January Introducing the Tauranga Summer School tutors… Michael Parmenter: Summer School is a rare opportunity to work with Arts Laureate Michael Parmenter, one of New Zealand’s leading dancers and choreographers. Choreographing consistently for thirty-years in New Zealand and internationally, Michael is a master teacher of contemporary dance and partnering. Ashleigh Coward: is a fresh New Zealand choreographer known for her humorous works. As well as starting her own dance school, she also choreographs for several dance companies. Her workshops are inspired by a fusion of beat-boxing and movement in creating visual sound.
- 31YEP Auckland Winter School 2015Auckland CentralWe were full of enthusiasm and excitement as students throughout the country gathered at Wellesley Studios for The New Zealand Dance Company’s YEP Winter School 2015. Supported by the NZDC dancers and tutors Grace Woollett and Thomas Lose, the Winter School participants spent five full-on days dancing and devising, inspired by the theme “Being Curious & Reframing the Stage”.
- 41YEP Auckland Autumn School 2015Auckland CentralThe YEP Auckland Autumn School, run in partnership with Tales of Tamaki (Auckland Museum, AWMM) saw teachers and students dance, devise and perform with NZDC’s company dancers. Through five full days with classes including contemporary, contemporary Ballet, Yoga and M & B (Muscle and Bone), participants extended their dance skills in improvisation, partnering, tasking and composition. Exploring the theme of “What is Courage?” Autumn School participants composed a 20 minute choreography in collaboration with NZDC’s dancers, finishing the week with two extraordinary performances at the Auckland Museum.
- 51YEP Autumn School 2016Auckland CentralLive a week in the life of a company dancer with the fabulous NZDC dancers! Daily warm up classes in contemporary, fusion, ballet, muscle & bone and yoga. Be the first to learn exciting, fresh NZDC 2016 repertoire; extend your contemporary technique and devise, with flair, your own contemporary phrases. Perform for family and friends at the end of the week.
