Best of Waiheke Island
- 11Whakanewha BayWaiheke IslandCollecting pipis on this beach is my absolutely favourite thing to do. I go at low tide, of course, and it’s a great way to experience the natural beauty as well as get a bit of a feed. There's also a fantastic walk called the Cascade One-Hour that is really beautiful. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Waiheke Island.
- 26Onetangi BayOnetangiI like to walk my dogs along Onetangi Beach. I have two Papillons and we try to get there at least once a week. This is also my favourite beach to swim at in the summer.
- 31Waiheke RSA IncorporatedOstendEvery Friday night I go to the RSA and eat their pork roast meal. They do an amazing crackling but you have to ask for it. I also love the fact that it only took me three visits before the barman knew which beer I would order (Export on tap) and he’s been pulling it without asking ever since. That’s the beauty of a small community. They also do fantastic meat raffles.
- 41BlackpoolWaiheke IslandIf you are a visitor to Waiheke Island one of the best activities I can recommend to get to grips with the island’s special nature is to take a walk around the old quintessential Kiwi baches that line the waterfront at Blackpool.
- 51Cove Bites and BrewsWaiheke IslandOne of the best lunches on the island is at Cove, below Ray White Real Estate. The best thing on the island to eat is their Jack Daniels pork spare ribs for just $12.50. It’s huge!
